Pittsburgh is emerging
as the robotic answer to Silicon Valley. Thanks to Carnegie Mellon
University's (CMU) robotics program and city’s industrial past,
Pittsburgh is becoming the country where next generation robot
technology can be developed and grow.
Hiroshi Okuno at Kyoto University
and Kazuhiro Nakadai at the Honda Research Institute in Saitama
have developed new software that enables the advanced humanoid
robot Asimo to understand three voices at once. They presented
their research at the 2008 IEEE International Conference on
Robotics and Automation in Pasadena. At the time, the software has
an accuracy rate between 70 and 80 percent.
